HALIFAX, NS June 21, 2018: The vast majority of Prince Edward Island residents hold positive opinions on the quality of life in their city, town, village, or community, according to the most recent survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc.
Specifically, thinking of their city, town, village, or community, nine in ten (90%, up from 75% in August 2015) Islanders believe the overall quality of life is excellent or good, while one in ten (10%, down from 25% in August 2015) of residents indicate that their overall quality of life is only fair or poor. Across the population, the likelihood of positive opinions on quality of life increases with household income. Based on previous research, positive quality of life assessments are more likely in Prince Edward Island than in Nova Scotia (73% in November 2017), New Brunswick (79% in August 2017), and Newfoundland and Labrador (76% in November 2017).
“Clearly, Islanders believe the quality of life in PEI is highly favourable,” said Don Mills, Chairman and CEO of Corporate Research Associates. “This finding should be used to attract more people to the Island, and help continue to grow the population, which has been benefitting economically from such growth.”
These results are part of the CRA Atlantic Quarterly®, an independent, quarterly telephone survey of Atlantic Canadians, and are based on a telephone sample of 300 adult Prince Edward Islanders, conducted from May 2 to 15, 2018, with overall results accurate to within ± 4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
