Satisfaction with city council rebounds in Fredericton
• Satisfaction with the performance of Council under Mayor Woodside’s leadership increased this quarter and is the highest among other urban markets tested in the region.
• Consumer confidence in Fredericton declined from three months ago.
HALIFAX, NS August 26, 2015: Satisfaction with the performance of the municipal government in Fredericton improved this quarter, according to the most recent Urban Report Survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically three in four Fredericton residents (73%, up from 63% three months ago) are satisfied with the performance of the Council under Mayor Woodside’s leadership, the highest among the four maritime cities tested.
Meanwhile, consumer confidence among Fredericton residents declined and currently rests at 94.6 (down from 99.1 three months ago).
These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of adult residents and consists of 400 Halifax CMA, 400 Saint John CMA, 400 Moncton CMA, and 400 Fredericton CA residents, conducted from July 16 to August 6, 2015, with overall results for each accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The survey results for government satisfaction are based on 400 Halifax CMA residents (±4.9 percentage points, 95% confidence level), 214 City of Saint John residents (±6.7 percentage points), 183 City of Moncton residents (±7.2 percentage points), and 272 City of Fredericton residents (±5.9 percentage points).
