Saint John Consumer Confidence Level Lags Behind Other Maritime Cities
Halifax: Consumer confidence among Saint John residents has declined somewhat and continues to be in negative territory, according to the most recent Urban Report Survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically, Saint John consumer confidence is down from last quarter and rests at 94.7 (down from 97.3 three months ago), and is lower than other Maritime municipal areas tracked by CRA.
On the other hand, satisfaction with municipal government in Saint John is relatively high and stable, again similar to findings in other cities in the Maritimes. Specifically, two-thirds of Saint John residents (67%, compared with 60% three months ago) are satisfied with the performance of the Council led by Mayor Mel Norton.
