Popularity of NB Liberals Growing
HALIFAX: Support for the NB Liberal Party has increased this quarter, according to the most recent survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. Support for the Liberal Party among decided voters currently stands at four in ten (41%, up from 35%). Meanwhile, three in ten back the governing PC Party (29%, compared with 32% three months ago), and one-quarter support the NDP (27%, compared with 26%). Green Party support is stable (3%, compared with 5%), while one percent of decided voters back the People’s Alliance of New Brunswick (compared with less than 1% last quarter). Over four in ten residents are undecided, do not plan to vote, or refuse to state a preference (45%, unchanged).
Presently, approximately four in ten New Brunswick residents are either completely or mostly satisfied with the provincial government (38%, compared with 41% in February 2013), while one-half (51%, compared with 49%) are dissatisfied. One in ten do not offer an opinion (11%, compared with 10%).
David Alward’s personal popularity is stable this quarter, with two in ten New Brunswick residents preferring Alward for Premier (20%, compared with 21%). Meanwhile, Brian Gallant of the Liberal Party is preferred by three in ten (31%, compared with 26%) and support for Dominic Cardy of the NDP stands at 17% (compared with 15%). Four percent (compared with 6%) prefer David Coon of the Green Party, while two percent (unchanged) prefer Kris Austin of the People’s Alliance of New Brunswick. Seven percent of New Brunswick residents like none of these leaders or support others (unchanged), while two in ten (19% compared with 23%) do not offer a definite opinion.
These results are part of the CRA Atlantic Quarterly®, an independent survey of Atlantic Canadians, and are based on a sample of 800 adult New Brunswickers, conducted from May 14 to May 30, 2013, with overall results accurate to within ±3.5 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
