Moncton consumer confidence remains high and stable this quarter

  • Consumer confidence in Moncton has stabilized this quarter, three months after reaching its highest level since November 2015
  • Despite high levels of satisfaction with the performance of Council under Mayor Arnold’s leadership, this measure has reached its lowest level since tracking began in August 2013

HALIFAX, NS August 17, 2017: Consumer confidence in Moncton has stabilized this quarter, three months after reaching its highest level since November 2015, according to the most recent Urban Report survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically, Moncton consumer confidence rests at 106.9, compared with 106.8 three months ago.

Although most residents continue to be satisfied with the performance of Moncton Council, satisfaction has reached its lowest level since tracking began in 2013. Specifically, just under six in ten (57%, compared with 63% in May 2017) Moncton residents are satisfied with the performance of Council under the leadership of Mayor Arnold, who was elected on May 9, 2016.

These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of adult residents and consists of 400 Halifax CMA, 401 Saint John CMA, 400 Moncton CMA, and 400 Fredericton CA residents, conducted from July 19 to August 7, 2017, with overall results for each accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The survey results for government satisfaction are based on 400 Halifax CMA residents (±4.9 percentage points, 95% confidence level), 218 City of Saint John residents (±6.6 percentage points), 192 City of Moncton residents (±7.1 percentage points), and 291 City of Fredericton residents (±5.7 percentage points).
