Moncton consumer confidence levels rebound this quarter

• Consumer confidence in Moncton has improved this quarter and continues to be higher than other maritime cities tested.
• A majority of Moncton residents are satisfied with the performance of Council under Mayor LeBlanc’s leadership, stable from three months ago.

HALIFAX, NS August 25, 2015: Consumer confidence among Moncton residents has improved this quarter, according to the most recent Urban Report Survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically, Moncton consumer confidence rests at 101.5 (up from 95.1 three months ago), similar to levels from six months ago, and higher than other urban markets tested in the Maritimes.

In addition, satisfaction with the municipal government in Moncton is stable. Specifically, two thirds (66%, compared with 63% three months ago) of Moncton residents are satisfied with the performance of the Council under Mayor LeBlanc’s leadership.

These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of adult residents and consists of 400 Halifax CMA, 400 Saint John CMA, 400 Moncton CMA, and 400 Fredericton CA residents, conducted from July 16 to August 6, 2015, with overall results for each accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The survey results for government satisfaction are based on 400 Halifax CMA residents (±4.9 percentage points, 95% confidence level), 214 City of Saint John residents (±6.7 percentage points), 183 City of Moncton residents (±7.2 percentage points), and 272 City of Fredericton residents (±5.9 percentage points).
