Moncton consumer confidence continues to rebound
- Consumer confidence in Moncton increases for the second consecutive quarter after a sharp decline in the first quarter of 2016
- Satisfaction with the performance of Council under recently elected Mayor Arnold remains high and is stable this quarter
HALIFAX, NS August 18, 2016: Moncton consumer confidence has continued to rise this quarter after a notable drop in the first quarter of 2016, according to the most recent Urban Report Survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically, Moncton consumer confidence rests at 103.2, an increase from 100.4 three months ago, and 88.3 in the first quarter of 2016.
In addition, satisfaction with the performance of Moncton Council remains high during its first quarter under the leadership of Mayor Dawn Arnold, who was elected into office on May 9, 2016. Specifically, seven in ten (68%, compared with 67% three months ago under Mayor George LeBlanc) Moncton residents are satisfied with the performance of the Council under Mayor Arnold’s leadership.
These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of adult residents and consists of 400 Halifax CMA, 400 Saint John CMA, 400 Moncton CMA, and 400 Fredericton CA residents, conducted from July 21 to August 6, 2016, with overall results for each accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The survey results for government satisfaction are based on 400 Halifax CMA residents (±4.9 percentage points, 95% confidence level), 218 City of Saint John residents (±6.6 percentage points), 199 City of Moncton residents (±6.9 percentage points), and 289 City of Fredericton residents (±5.7 percentage points).
