Moncton consumer confidence appears to stabilize after steady improvement throughout 2016
- Consumer confidence in Moncton stabilizes following three consecutive quarters of improvement in 2016
- Satisfaction with the performance of Council under Mayor Arnold’s leadership is down compared with six months ago
HALIFAX, NS February 22, 2017: Moncton consumer confidence is stable this quarter after three consecutive quarters of improvement in 2016, according to the most recent Urban Report survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically, Moncton consumer confidence rests at 103.3, as compared to 105.6 three months ago.
In addition, satisfaction with the performance of Moncton Council is down from six months ago, and has reached its lowest level since tracking began in August 2013. Specifically, six in ten (58%, compared with 66% three months ago and down from 68% in the third quarter of 2016) Moncton residents are satisfied with the performance of the Council under the leadership of Mayor Arnold, who was elected on May 9, 2016.
These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of adult residents and consists of 400 Halifax CMA, 404 Saint John CMA, 400 Moncton CMA, and 400 Fredericton CA residents, conducted from January 25 to February 9, 2017, with overall results for each accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The survey results for government satisfaction are based on 400 Halifax CMA residents (±4.9 percentage points, 95% confidence level), 211 City of Saint John residents (±6.7 percentage points), 202 City of Moncton residents (±6.9 percentage points), and 296 City of Fredericton residents (±5.7 percentage points).
