HALIFAX, NS June 18, 2015:  There continues to be relatively little opposition to the development of the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project in Newfoundland and Labrador, according to the most recent survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc.

Two-thirds of residents (65%, compared with 63% in February 2013) completely or mostly support the Muskrat Falls development, while three in ten (29%, compared with 27%) mostly or completely oppose, and six percent either do not know or do not offer an opinion on the matter (compared with 10%).

Opinion on the Muskrat Falls development differ by demographics. Specifically, support is higher among younger residents and those with higher household income levels.

“There continues to be strong majority support in Newfoundland and Labrador for the Muskrat Falls Project, particularity among younger residents,” said Don Mills, Chairman and CEO of Corporate Research Associates. “Support levels remain stable with those from more than two years ago.”

These results are part of the CRA Atlantic Quarterly®, an independent, quarterly survey of Atlantic Canadians, and are based on a telephone sample of 400 adult Newfoundland and Labradorians, conducted from May 12 to May 29, 2015, with overall results accurate to within ± 4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
