Majority of Moncton residents concerned about the water quality in Shediac Bay
HALIFAX, NS September 6, 2017: Residents in the Greater Moncton Area (Census Metropolitan Area or CMA) are concerned about the water quality at beaches in the Shediac Bay area, according to the most recent survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. These results follow recent discussions regarding the water quality at beaches in and around Shediac Bay, which includes Parlee Beach Provincial Park.
Specifically, on a scale of 1 to 10, where “1” is not at all concerned and “10” is extremely concerned, the average rating of concern about the water quality in the Shediac Bay area is 7.7 out of 10. Of note, two-thirds (64%) of residents in the Greater Moncton Area rate their concern as 8, 9, or 10 on a 1 to 10 scale, while four in ten (40%) are extremely concerned (rating of 10 out of 10).
“There is continuing concern regarding the water quality in the Shediac Bay area despite efforts to mitigate those concerns by various levels of government,” said Don Mills, Chairman and CEO of Corporate Research Associates Inc.
These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of 400 Moncton (Census Metropolitan Area (CMA)) adult residents, 18 years of age or older, conducted from July 19 to August 7, 2017. Overall results are accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
