Consumer confidence rebounds in Halifax this quarter

• Consumer confidence in Halifax increases after a sharp decline three months ago.
• Satisfaction with the performance of Council under Mayor Savage’s leadership remains high and is stable this quarter.

HALIFAX, NS May 11, 2016: Consumer confidence among Halifax residents rebounds this quarter after a notable decline three months ago, according to the most recent Urban Report Survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically, Halifax consumer confidence rests at 100.9 (up from 94.1 three months ago).
In addition, satisfaction with the municipal government in Halifax remains high and is stable this quarter. Specifically seven in ten Halifax residents (69%, compared with 70% three months ago) are satisfied with the performance of the Council under Mayor Mike Savage’s leadership.
These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of adult residents and consists of 400 Halifax CMA, 400 Saint John CMA, 400 Moncton CMA, and 400 Fredericton CA residents, conducted from April 19 to May 5, 2016, with overall results for each accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The survey results for government satisfaction are based on 400 Halifax CMA residents (±4.9 percentage points, 95% confidence level), 212 City of Saint John residents (±6.7 percentage points), 205 City of Moncton residents (±6.8 percentage points), and 284 City of Fredericton residents (±5.8 percentage points).
