Consumer confidence in Fredericton improves for the second consecutive quarter

  • Consumer confidence in Fredericton is trending upward, improving for the second consecutive quarter, and reaching its highest level since tracking began in May 2013
  • The level of satisfaction with the performance of Council under Mayor Mike O’Brien’s leadership remains high and stable this quarter

HALIFAX, NS August 17, 2017: Consumer confidence in Fredericton has improved for the second consecutive quarter, reaching its highest level since tracking began in August 2013, according to the most recent Urban Report survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. (CRA). Specifically, consumer confidence among Fredericton residents currently stands at 109.4, compared with 105.1 in May 2017, and 102.6 in February 2017.

Satisfaction with the performance of Fredericton Council under the leadership of Mayor Mike O’Brien remains high and stable this quarter. Specifically, seven in ten (71%, compared with 70% in May 2017) Fredericton residents are satisfied with the performance of Council.

These results are part of the CRA Urban Report, an independent telephone survey of adult residents and consists of 400 Halifax CMA, 401 Saint John CMA, 400 Moncton CMA, and 400 Fredericton CA residents, conducted from July 19 to August 7, 2017, with overall results for each accurate to within ±4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The survey results for government satisfaction are based on 400 Halifax CMA residents (±4.9 percentage points, 95% confidence level), 218 City of Saint John residents (±6.6 percentage points), 192 City of Moncton residents (±7.1 percentage points), and 291 City of Fredericton residents (±5.7 percentage points).
