A Plurality of Atlantic Canadians are Pro-Choice
HALIFAX: One-half of Atlantic Canadians believe that abortions should be available to those who want them in the first three months of pregnancy, according to the most recent survey conducted by Corporate Research Associates Inc. Residents were asked which one of three statements best represents their own personal views regarding abortion. Results indicate that one-half (50%, compared with 47% in August 2008) of Atlantic Canadians believe that abortions should be available to women who want them during the first three months of pregnancy, while three in ten (31%, unchanged) believe abortions should be made available in only limited circumstances such as incest or rape. Finally, only one in ten (11%, compared with 12%) believe abortions should not be available under any circumstances.
